You may not know there is a free, easy to use, drag and drop editing system for your Windows computer that works great with
PowerPoint. If you have Windows XP service pack 2, it is probably already installed on your computer. |

Movie Maker is a free tool from Microsoft. You can check the system requirements and use Microsoft Update to download it here

Movie Maker uses a wide variety of common movie files, including: .AVI .MPG .MPEG .WMV .ASF
|

|
Movie Maker has a simple wizard interface that will help you
put a title on top of a movie for your PowerPoint presentation in just a few minutes.
|

The most reliable choice for PowerPoint is .WMV. This
is the format of PowerFinish movies.

Import Your Video
|
|
|
Look in the Movie Tasks on the left of your screen under
1. Capture Video. Select “Insert Video”.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
You’ll see the familiar Import File palette, but this time it
will say Import Movie. Just select the file you want and click “import”.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
Just drag the movie icon down to the timeline at the bottom
of the screen. The movie will appear in the preview screen when you do this. You can play the preview in the small media player on the right. If you wish, you can drag multiple copies of
the movie or insert other media on the time line now too.

Add Your Title
|

Go back to the Movie Tasks list and select “Make
titles or credits”. You will enter the text and modify the appearance in this step.

TEXT:
First, choose “Add title on the selected clip in the timeline”. This will place your text on top of the animation. Next, choose a single title line or also include a subtitle. Type in the wording you want.

APPEARANCE:
Now you can modify the font size, color, transparency if you wish. When you are finished, select the animation style you want for the title. The default is Fade In and Out. You can try out the choices and see them preview on the media player. (Your inserted movie will not be shown until you have committed your changes.)

COMMIT: When your editing is
complete, click Done. You will see the Title Overlay has been populated at the bottom of the timeline. Drag the bar handles to the same length as your movie.

Don’t forget to save your project if you want to experiment with other wording, animations or colors.
Now all you have to do is insert the movie into your PowerPoint presentation.
